Nettle is an herbal antihistamine which means it may reduce the amount of histamine that is produced by the body in response to an allergen. An allergen is a substance such as pollen that may provoke an exaggerated immune response in individuals who are sensitive to it. Through this potential action, nettle may help to reduce allergy symptoms. The leaves are anti-inflammatory and drying to the sinuses making them a helpful remedy for congestion
Goldenrod has been wrongly accused of causing hay fever simply because of its close association with the actual culprit: ragweed. Goldenrod is actually a remedy for ragweed allergies. Among its many uses, Goldenrod is a premier decongestant, effectively alleviating upper respiratory congestion stemming from allergies, sinusitis, flu, and the common cold. In my experience, it is one of the strongest herbs for drying the sinuses.
Yarrow is a multi-purpose herb used traditionally to treat colds, the flu, fever, and allergic rhinitis. The flowers and leaves of yarrow can help alleviate or prevent excess mucus or phlegm in the respiratory system. This is because of anti-catarrhal substances found in the yarrow plant that can impart different actions such as mucolytic action, expectorant properties, anti-inflammatory effects, immunomodulatory effects, and antimicrobial action.
Mullein may reduce inflammation of the airways, which can lead to fewer allergies and respiratory problems in general. Recent studies have shown mullein being effective for reducing discomfort caused by hay fever. Mullein also helps soothe a sore/irritated throat or a cough by reducing inflammation and loosening up mucous.
Suggested use: shake well before each use; take 1-2 droppers full 1-3 times per day or as needed for allergy support. For best results, start daily use a few weeks before your typical allergy season begins. Can be taken straight under the tongue or added to a shot glass amount of water or tea.
