This herb infused salve is a great all natural “icy hot” alternative to help ease aches, pains, sore muscles, inflammation, bruises, arthritis, back pain, knee pain, and more.

What is inside?

The star in this salve is cayenne. It is a natural anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic making it powerful for muscle and nerve pain. Cayenne contains a constituent called capsaicin which blocks a neurotransmitter that transmits pain signals from the nerves to the central nervous system. When cayenne is used topically, it can help relieve all sorts of pain: neuropathy, back pain, muscle spasms, menstrual cramps, joint pain, and more.

Arnica reduces pain and inflammation and is great to use on bruises, aches, sprains, strains, and even arthritis flare ups. Arnica contains helenalin which is a potent anti-inflammatory and is beneficial for healing and relieving bumps, bruises, muscle aches, spasms, and sprains. It has been known to improve carpal tunnel and help to treat osteoarthritis.

Calendula is so gentle and yet it is a powerhouse. Calendula is a potent anti-inflammatory and is helpful for muscle pain and spasms. It can prevent aching and aid in the recovery of muscles and ligaments. Calendula can also reduce bruising and contusions while providing elasticity and hydration to the skin.

Ginger has long been used as a pain reliever thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger helps relieve ailments including painful menstruation, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, muscle pain, lower back pain, and migraine. The warming capability of ginger helps to improve circulation and relieve tension in tired, sore muscles.

Lavender contains anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties that are effective for treating pains that arise from muscle stress and tension. Lavender can also ease swelling and improve blood circulation. It is excellent for relieving muscle spasms caused by mental stress and anxiety.

Studies have widely shown that a chemical compound in turmeric called curcumin not only gives the spice its bright color but is a powerful anti-inflammatory. Conditions such as arthritis can result in inflammation and stiffness. Turmeric blocks inflammatory enzymes and proteins therefore reducing pain and increasing ease of movement.

Cloves contain significant amounts of an active component called eugenol. Eugenol is a substance helpful for relieving pain, killing bacteria, and reducing inflammation. Eugenol and other components of clove combine to make clove a mild anesthetic.

Black pepper contains a compound called piperine that enhances the absorption of the curcumin in turmeric. Piperine can increase the bioavailability of curcumin to enhance its effects. Black pepper is not only antibacterial, it helps to fight off fungus, reduce inflammation, and increase blood circulation. Black pepper is known to fight off pain from arthritis and warm tired, sore muscles.
